…apparently. Hummmm. Anyone else looked at the weather forecast for next week? So cruel to be teased with these slightly warmer, sunny days and then whoosh back down to freezing and freakin’ snow again.
I look at Spring-ish things and admire, but end up thinking they’re not for me… no need. Its never going to be warm again. Sob. OK, so slightly dramatic there – but really, REALLY…?
So with the hope, and hope springs eternal, perhaps we won’t still need woolly, thermal things forever and perhaps if we really do wear some spring colours, they might at least help lift the mood and encourage spring to damn well spring?
I’m still all about the layers. A fail-safe Breton stripe; those with more white in them feel more spring-ish to me, and some of mine could do with a refresh… this is from French Connection 3/4 length sleeve top, £17… normal price £25, is a good place to start (there’s a 30% discount across many styles at the moment).
H&M have this knitted red/natural one, £17.99
This yellow cross body bag from M&S, £19.50 is a definite mood lifter, and would look fab with the above tops… actually, I’m not sure what it wouldn’t look fab with?
Yellow and grey always are a great combination for me… H&M have this still-necessary long line grey cardigan… £29.99.
This red scarf from French Connection, £28.50 (was £40) would look great with grey, camel, khaki and navy coats/coatigans/cardigans…
It would also work with this wind breaker from Zara, £79.99. Love.
Might need this leopard print umbrella from Topshop though… £16.99.
And perhaps just mix that leopard print accessory with this super pretty jersey jumpsuit from H&M, £19.99 (Is this printed jumpsuit available in plain black as well, I hear you ask? Yes, phew, click here and fill your bag.)
And in case the British weather does what British weather can do here’s a jumper from M&S, £29.50 that could be worn over the pretty print jump suit.
Zing up the outfit with these statement earrings, £39 from Oliver Bonas.
This tee below by Zara, £5.99 is available in 8 different colours/prints. It’s made with ecologically grown cotton. ‘Ecologically grown cotton is produced using practices that help us to protect biodiversity, such as crop rotation and the use of natural fertilizers.’
This merino wool jumper is from Uniqlo – it’s part of their limited offers and only £14.90 (usually £24.90), rude not too, in such a pretty shade. This would look great mixed with denim, navy, khaki, stone, more denim…
More colour in sweatshirt form… Reserved £17.99. I love the mix of this relaxed top with a lady skirt. Could this be more spring?
A light weight jumper from Zara… gorgeous design, the star carries on at the back, £19.99.
So what have we learned? It may still end up snowing in June, but we can, and will/should still wear colour (even with thermals on underneath).
Did you also notice the shot of colour in so many of these photos from jazzy earrings; an easy way to update an outfit, try some colour, with not too much investment… even if you feel you’re wearing the same old, same old it will feel fresher.
Accessorize hoop & tassle earrings £7.Failing that… there’s always nail polish for instant Spring-ish gratification; it’s one of my favourite things to do to make me feel more together. Essie Nail Polish at boots from £7.99.
And not one item of black (just one tiny little mention) in this Spring Forward look. Fear not, normal service will resume next time.
