In this mad time of mixed messages and confusion on so many levels… when I do venture out I feel the need, depending on the destination, to often feel ready for… well, combat.
I know ‘the thing’ that we’re all desperately trying to stay away from has no interest in our sartorial choices on any given day. But some how, and given the ever changing weather, wearing boots and a khaki/fatigue-ish jacket (yes, inner Private Benjamin calling again) I feel slightly more prepared and ready to fight. (Or just run away back to our bubble of home.)
Looking to update my much loved ye olde Topshop khaki jacket is now an annual/year round task. And still. And still, Nothing else has quite come close. Why does it need to be updated if it’s so perfect? Well, it’s looking a somewhat tired 8 years on, and well, in truth, it’s snugger around the hips that it was…
(If only Joe Wicks did an oh-god-we’re-still-on-lock-down-and-trying-to-home-school-our-darlings-DIY-ing-our-pants-off-at-the-same-time-but-self-soothing-through-gin-and-wine-too-often-anti-expansion-up-work-out…).
I digress.
I thought that I’d found a winner of a khaki jacket the other day, but it’s going back, the collar didn’t sit quite right and I’ve decided I needed epaulettes at the shoulders to balance out to bigger front pockets (used to carry hand sanitiser or gin) or my hips. One or the other.
