For me, a subtle shift into Spring means going from wearing pretty much permanently black denim jeans to dark Indigo… sometimes, even to mid Indigo. I know.
Suddenly lighter indigos and paler shades feel fresher and more wearable even. There are a gazillion mind boggling number of jeans and denim options out there; but as with most things, I don’t want flash in the pan, great for this spring/summer (did I say SUMMER????) but then feel out of date, or worse foolish (what was I thinking?) next spring. I want longevity.
Classic with a twist denim items are fine, even pieces that one might put away for a few seasons then bring them out again; but I don’t really want printed, embroidered or tie-dyed anything that looks so flash in the pan now – I’ll leave that to the 13 year old should she so desire.
So whether you have much loved denim pieces and it forms a staple of your wardrobe, or denim is somewhere you never/rarely go… there is something for everyone to tempt you, or think about trying at least.
This blouse is made from Tencel so will have a beautiful soft handle… perfect matched with navy trousers for high/low dressing, as shown here.
M&S Denim ruffle blouse £35

I love the high neck and cuff detail of this blouse…
H&M Cotton denim blouse £24.99

Shopping at The Glades shopping centre in Bromley, South London was a highlight when I was at college back in the day. My friend Scott worked in the Levi’s store. He was a brilliant ambassador for the brand and like all of the Graphics boys, only wore Levi’s; he also got a great staff discount…
A denim shirt will always be a useful addition; though I struggle with blue on blue denim; as I’ll have mentioned before it’s too Shakin’ Stevens for me… blue and black. Fine.
Levi’s Essential Denim Shirt £70

A smarter option in a Kimono style denim jacket option here, available in two colours; I think I’d want to go up a size in this for a slightly oversized option.
M&S Denim Kimono Jacket £24.50

Skirts. If you wear skirts, a possible all year round staple and alternative to jeans… shown here below with bare legs (pure madness, please, it’s still February) but with boots/tights in autumn/winter; plus throw on a roll neck. Winner.
Summer – say no more. Yes to these styling options on every level.
Hush Danica Denim Pencil Skirt £65

Smarter and a forever style denim skirt.
Toast Panelled Denim Skirt £195

We need to talk about other colour options of denim. Usually I’m a black or blue kind of girl. Other colours are available, many of which I will never discuss here… but this, below. Interesting. And yes, it has possibilities.
Cos organic cotton long denim skirt £59

In not quite the same colour…don’t want matchy matchy… Tonal. Yes. A possibly perfect jacket with sooo many outfits whether to tone down a smarter outfit or pull an outfit together, I think it’s smarter than classic blue.
Cos organic cotton utility style jacket £79

A dress. I would. And a slice of her attitude.
H&M Short lyocell-blend dress £39.99

I can’t really justify another jumpsuit/boiler suit. Though this is different to any one I have in my possession…
H&M Denim Boiler Suit £34.99

I am no aficionado on jeans. For that see other folk who can offer far more information. But. As interesting, now-ish but not going anywhere in a hurry – that also look wearable styles; these are some great styles to contemplate that are contemporary and modern without being flash-panny.
Lee x H&M Loose Fit Mom Jeans £34.99

Zara Hi-Rise Wide-leg Cropped Jeans £27.99

Cos Organic cotton tapered leg jeans £69

M&S also do some great shaping jeans – with added oomph power to hold you in around the waist and lift bottom so you feel held, and perky…
M&S Magic Shaping Straight Leg Jeans Jeans £39.50

Finally, a couple of jacket options… there are various people that have this style of denim jacket out there… this was my favourite of the bunch… this could be one of those jackets that you wear loads, but then could put away, and bring back out a few seasons later.
Gap Quilted Denim Jacket £89.95 (remember Gap do deals all of time time, to pay full price would be rude.)

This is my final offering… an out there disco piece, possibly inspired by our fabulous street artists that are ‘resting’ due to the current situation. But when party time does come back again; you’d be ready in this.
French Connection Tate Metallic Denim Jacket £30, was £99
