Raincoats and Brollies

One has to love the British weather… it is an endless subject of conversation, particularly when… conversation with real life people can be… well, who has any news?

Since the slight easing of lockdown some of us have been out, and sat in pub gardens, got cold, but REJOICED, in the fact that someone else made a decision about what ‘could’ be eaten, some one else cooked the food, someone else cleared the plates and stacked the dishwasher, and someone else washed up. And all the time… brought wine. Beautiful.

But the thing is, after that initial flurry the goodish weather, it’s been wet, windy and cold – not really suited for sitting outside – which considering how much the hospitality economy needs people in their outdoor spaces – the weather is not really playing ball.

But should we be in a position to being outside, (or thinking about staycations as opposed to foreign travel this summer…?), some wet weather gear is more than likely going to be needed at some point.

Currently, a winter coat (in MAY??!!) might really be needed more right now, but a raincoat with 14 layers underneath feels slightly more hopeful or spring like at least. In truth a rain coat is not a thing we realllly want to have to spend money on, but, it’s probably actually (with grown up head on) a worthwhile purchase to have one to hand that you’d want to wear when the need arises… and in the UK… that’s quite often.

As you may have gathered if you’ve read many of these posts, I’m not going to selecting a sunny yellow raincoat… I know someone who wears one, and it looks good on them, suits them in fact. But not me… however, I can when given the choice go slightly more wild and jazzy with an umbrella. Slightly.
